About Our Program
Weekly Sessions with Two Dedicated Mentors
Every MMBay student is paired with two dedicated professional volunteers who serve as their mentors for the duration of our three year program. Mentors provide support throughout the school year, coaching their mentee’s through professional development workshops, summer program selection, college applications, personal statement writing, and more. Mentors are also a critical part of every mentee’s support system, offering a deep investment in every student and forming a lifelong friendship.
Funded Summer Learning Experiences
MMBay provides funding for students to attend academic summer programs across the US in both Sophomore and Junior years. We also encourage and support students in participating in career exploration workshops and summer internships. Academic summer programs help students get a glimpse of college campus life and deepen their exploration of academic subjects or career paths, such as psychology, computer science, biology, medicine, business, filmmaking, architecture, and more.
Our students often take courses at colleges and universities such as Boston University, Georgetown, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, UC Santa Cruz, UC Berkeley, and UCLA (just to name a few). Some students choose to participate in research internships with university professors, rotational internships at private equity companies, and career panels at local tech companies.
Communication and Presentation Skill Development
MMBay provides students with opportunities to cultivate communication and presentation skills that are critical to navigating academic, professional, and social settings. Through discussions and debates about current events and articles, interview workshops, presentation practice, essay writing, and much more, MMBay students develop critical skills for success in college, career, and life.
Weekly SAT or ACT Preparation
In our test prep program, students focus on either the ACT or SAT and receive small-group instruction, using both online and traditional test prep resources. We are proud of our students for increasing their test scores after rigorous study every Saturday, with an average 250-point gain from the fall of their Sophomore year to the fall of their Senior year.
Individualized Support With College Applications
From UCs to CSUs to non-California public and private schools across the US, 100% of MMBay’s mentee graduates have been accepted to 4-year colleges. Our mentors and financial aid advisors set high expectations and help each senior strategically apply to schools that align with their academic goals and are best positioned to offer generous financial aid. Students are guided through the application process with personal statement workshops, consistent feedback on their target schools, and financial aid consultation.
